Terms of Use
The rules for using AppScreenie, including a practical commercial license for the screenshot sets you create.
Effective
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use govern your access to AppScreenie at appscreenie.com and its browser-based screenshot editor (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2. The Service is browser-local
AppScreenie is a free creative tool for composing app-store and marketing screenshots. It currently has no user accounts or cloud project storage. Ordinary editor projects, imported images, custom fonts, and previews are processed and saved in your browser profile, not in an AppScreenie account.
Browser storage is not a backup service. Clearing site data, using a private browsing session, changing browser profiles or devices, storage eviction, software failure, or deleting a project can make local work unavailable. You are responsible for exporting final images and portable project backups you need to keep.
3. Who may use AppScreenie
You may use the Service only if you can legally agree to these Terms. If you are below the age at which you can enter into this agreement independently where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and permit your use of the Service.
4. Your content
“User Content” means screenshots, images, text, fonts, logos, project files, and other material you bring into the Service. You keep your ownership and other rights in User Content. AppScreenie does not claim ownership of it.
You permit the Service to reproduce, transform, and combine User Content on your device only as needed to provide the editing, preview, project-backup, and export features you request. Ordinary editor use does not upload User Content to AppScreenie servers.
You are responsible for ensuring that:
- you own User Content or have the licenses and permissions needed to use it;
- your use respects copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, and other third-party rights; and
- User Content and your resulting exports comply with applicable law and the rules of each store or platform where you publish them.
5. License for your finished exports
“AppScreenie Assets” means the original device mockups, frame renders, templates, layouts, sample designs, and other creative elements owned by AppScreenie. “Output” means a finished composition you create and export from the Service that combines those assets with your own design choices or User Content.
As long as you follow these Terms, AppScreenie grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, display, and distribute your Outputs for any lawful personal or commercial purpose. This includes:
- Apple App Store, Google Play, and other software stores;
- websites, social media, advertising, portfolios, and pitch decks;
- your own products and products owned by your organisation; and
- paid client work, including delivering finished Outputs to clients for their commercial use.
No attribution to AppScreenie is required. A license validly granted to a compliant Output continues after you stop using the Service, these Terms end, or a later version of the Terms takes effect.
6. What the export license does not allow
The export license covers AppScreenie Assets only as incorporated into a finished composition. It does not transfer ownership of the underlying assets, source files, software, or AppScreenie brand.
You may not:
- extract, sell, sublicense, publish, or redistribute AppScreenie Assets as standalone or near-standalone files;
- repackage them as a mockup pack, stock-asset collection, template library, UI kit, download, or part of a competing screenshot generator;
- claim ownership of AppScreenie Assets, Blender/source files, trademarks, or branding; or
- use automated extraction, scraping, or circumvention to obtain assets outside the normal editing, project-backup, and export workflows.
You may share an editable AppScreenie project file with a client or collaborator working on that same project, provided it is not offered as a reusable asset or template product. Third-party fonts, icons, software, and other identified material remain subject to their own licenses. The Elements catalog includes Phosphor Icons under the MIT License. No rights in Apple, Google, or another third party’s names, trademarks, or product designs are granted by these Terms.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe another person’s rights;
- introduce malicious code, interfere with operation, bypass security measures, or test vulnerabilities without written permission;
- generate excessive automated traffic, scrape asset libraries, or place unreasonable load on the Service; or
- impersonate another person, misrepresent affiliation, or falsely imply that AppScreenie endorses an app, product, or claim.
Access may be restricted when reasonably necessary to protect the Service, users, third parties, or legal rights.
8. Third-party services
Some features interact with third-party services. For example, the editor uses Google Fonts, and the optional support link opens Ko-fi. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. AppScreenie does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their availability or conduct.
Apple, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Google Play, Samsung, and other names and marks belong to their respective owners. AppScreenie is not affiliated with or endorsed by those owners. Device mockups are independent artistic renderings, not official assets. You are responsible for applicable platform and brand guidelines.
9. Optional support
Supporting AppScreenie through Ko-fi is optional. A one-time contribution does not purchase ownership of the Service or guarantee features, availability, priority support, public recognition, or influence over development. Ko-fi and the selected payment provider govern transaction processing.
An eligible paid membership may include the optional public recognition described in the applicable Ko-fi membership offer. A credit remains subject to the active paid term, the stated tier, reasonable publication time, content review, and the member supplying the permitted details. It does not unlock editor features. AppScreenie may refuse or remove a name, logo, or link that is unlawful, unsafe, infringing, deceptive, or outside the offer. Nothing here limits any refund, cancellation, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
By asking AppScreenie to publish a supporter credit, you confirm that you have the necessary rights and grant the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to review, reproduce, resize, re-encode, and display the approved name, link, and logo solely to prepare, provide, and administer that credit. The license ends when the credit is removed, except for restricted historical or backup copies kept as described in the Privacy Policy or where retention is legally required.
10. Exports and store requirements
Device presets, previews, and store-layout information are design aids. Store specifications and review rules can change. You are responsible for checking current requirements, reviewing every export, maintaining source backups, and deciding whether an Output is suitable for publication.
11. Availability and changes
The Service may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. Features, templates, and supported formats may be added, changed, or removed. AppScreenie does not promise uninterrupted access or permanent support for a browser, file format, store requirement, or third-party service.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, fit for a particular purpose, or accepted by an app store. You use the Service and rely on browser-local storage at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or remedies that applicable consumer law does not allow to be excluded.
13. Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, AppScreenie and its operator are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost opportunities, store rejection, or loss of browser-local projects or User Content arising from use of or inability to use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, mandatory product or data-protection liability, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable law prohibits that limitation.
14. Ending use
You may stop using AppScreenie at any time. You can delete individual projects in the Service and clear AppScreenie site data through your browser. Ending use does not revoke the license for Outputs you created while complying with these Terms. Sections that by their nature should continue, including ownership, license restrictions, disclaimers, and liability provisions, survive.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Croatia. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact AppScreenie so there is an opportunity to resolve the issue informally. Courts have jurisdiction as determined by applicable mandatory law.
16. Rights complaints
If you believe material available through AppScreenie infringes your copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or another legal right, email hello@appscreenie.com with your contact information, the material and location concerned, the right you believe is affected, and enough detail to evaluate the request. AppScreenie may ask for reasonable verification and will respond as appropriate under applicable law.
17. Changes
These Terms may be updated when the Service or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Changes apply prospectively. Material changes will be presented reasonably before they take effect where required by law, and they do not revoke an Output license already validly granted.
